For an artist, the chance to deep-dive into a project doesn’t come often enough. When it happens, it can be transformative—not just for artists but for audiences and communities, too. The Base Residency is a unique, artist-curated program offering unrestricted space; the opportunity to publicly share work; technical, marketing and administrative support; lodging for out-of-town artists; and a fee of $1,000 per residency week. Since 2016, more than 25 artists have completed Base Residencies as the program continues to evolve and grow within a national context. Meet Base Residency Alumni here.

The 2024-2025 Base Residency is curated by Nia-Amina Minor, Bennyroyce Royon and Parmida Ziaei.

“My residency at Base allowed me to be my most daring, expansive creative self. Artists are always fighting for the opportunity to most authentically sit with their practice, and I know the resources Base provided for me—in space, time, communication, housing, travel, and financial support—let me focus on rising to an extremely generative AND healthy iteration of my practice.”

- Ankita Sharma, 2023-2024 Base Resident Artist

The Base Residency program is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
