Base Residency

The Base Residency exists to support movement-based artists taking experimental approaches to performance—artists who are asking ambitious questions, taking creative risks, and pushing their practice in new directions.
Through two weeks of unrestricted studio access, opportunities to share work in process with the public, and production, marketing, and administrative support, the residency creates the conditions for artists to deepen their practice on their own terms. Out-of-town artists receive travel and lodging support, and all residents receive a $2,000 artist fee. At a time when dedicated space and time for artistic inquiry is increasingly rare, the Base Residency invests in artists. Since 2016, more than 40 artists have participated, helping shape an evolving national community committed to experimentation, artistic inquiry, and process-driven work. Meet Base Residency Alumni here.
