Degenerate Art Ensemble: Base Open House

Celebrate Degenerate Art Ensemble’s Base Residency at our Base Open House on March 27, 2020 at 7pm.

Degenerate Art Ensemble, our third Base Resident Artist of the season, will be in residency at Base for three weeks in March, working in collaboration with Colorado based sculptor and performance artist Senga Nengudi and Cincinnati based violinist and singer Eddy Kwon. Join us on March 27th for our Resident Artist Open House and get an inside look at what they've been working on!

In their own words, Degenerate Art Ensemble—co-directed by Crow Nishimura and Joshua Khol— “…makes live performances inspired by punk, comics, cinema, protest, nightmares and fairy tales driven by live music and our own style of visceral movement theater and dance.”

Degenerate Art Ensemble and collaborators will explore their newest work, Boy mother / faceless bloom, a multimedia performance work co-created by Senga Nengudi, Eddy Kwon, and Degenerate Art Ensemble. Combining large-scale sculptural and scenic design, live and recorded music, and embodied movement, Boy mother / faceless bloom tells the story of a young boy who learns he will be a mother.

Tickets sliding scale $10-$40 available here and at the door

*All proceeds benefit the Base Residency Program. Learn more here!

For three uninterrupted weeks, Base Resident Artists dive deep into their practices, using 24/7 access to Base for development, self-challenge and experimentation. Each Base Residency culminates in an open house that offers a public vantage point on a particular stage in the creative process.
